This book describes my ten-plus years on staff in Gurumayi's Siddha Yoga ashrams, the same ashram written of by Elizabeth Gilbert in her book Eat, Pray, Love. My book has a different flavor from hers, was written several years before hers appeared, and is available in paperback and e-book.

I came here after reading the New York Post article. I will definitely have to read your book. I've not read the other, but I have seen the movie previews and Julia Roberts claims to be Hindu.
I read a book last year called 'The Gurus, the Young Man, and Elder Paisios' that was a memoir of a man who spent a lot of time in ashrams in India and the trouble it caused his life.
I wanted to thank you for writing, because I do think it is important to warn people about groups that can cause more harm than good. Hopefully, your book has saved a few folks a lot of hassle and caused them to rethink.
Interesting, I will have to take a look at that book. I'm not sure if my book has stopped anyone from going in that direction -- my experience is that if someone is interested in that stuff not much will change their minds. That's how I was! But perhaps some have read my book and felt less alone, have recognized their own experience in my description of mine. That would be good. Thank you for your interest and for writing your thoughts, and I hope you enjoy the book!
Eat, Pray, Love is a journey through selfishness....It's not enlightenment!
