This book describes my ten-plus years on staff in Gurumayi's Siddha Yoga ashrams, the same ashram written of by Elizabeth Gilbert in her book Eat, Pray, Love. My book has a different flavor from hers, was written several years before hers appeared, and is available in paperback and e-book.

It is really surprising to those in India that people would believe that peace could be found in a country that is in itself farthest from peace, justice and truth. Although it's not hard to see why? It's a poor country yet not in the grip of consumerism so there must be some humility and spirituality in it. The culture was great once upon a time, now it is just a country with confused, disillusioned souls, those who get it either leave the country or rule those confused ones. The gurus are one of the menace that politicians are ignoring simply because it means tourism money also lots of money from the local well heeled trying on a little karama cleansing. SAD.
I'll never forget the 1994 New Yorker article about the cult of Gurumayi. Everyone who read it knew they were reading about a dangerous cult. I am appalled Oprah repeatedly peddles this New Age swill to her gullible, equally daft followers, and the likes of Julia Roberts, who actually make this into a film. BUYER BEWARE!
