WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

Hard at work on the next book! Not Siddha Yoga, but the cult that came before it -- the one that made Siddha Yoga feel like a country club. Will you have heard of it? No, it was small and private, like so many cults are.

writing people's actual names seem a breach of privacy. It seems you are setting yourself up for a lawsuit. They are not given the chance to defend themselves & the dead cannot either. It seems you were insensitive before & still are.

I recently had a blog about a small but dangerous cult that my SO joined. This cult turned our lives upside down. My blog also received comments like this and I was harassed and threatened by them. They also threatened to sue me. Also, I was involved in Siddha Yoga for many years. I did not have any major problems with it and actually got a lot out of the experience. I am very disturbed, however, about the things I have been reading about it. I have not been involved since 1992. After the experience I had with my SO's cult (which claimed to be affiliated with the Cherokee nation), I don't accept any of these groups unconditionally and am willing to listen and believe what I hear.

Hi Theodosia, Thanks for coming over and sharing your thoughts. I didn't really come to understand my Siddha Yoga experience until I began to write about it. I wonder what would happen if you wrote about your time in Siddha Yoga -- do you ever write?

Thanks, Marta. I do write. I'm inspired by the things I've been reading to write more about my experience with the recent phony Cherokee cult on my blog. During the time the cult was causing me a lot of trouble, cyber-stalking every move I made, etc., I had a blog about them and they were very upset. They had broken me up with my SO for two months. When she came back, I continued to write but eventually I agreed to take the blog down in exchange for having my relationship back. Yes, I will consider starting to write about Siddha Yoga, but I did not have really bad experiences. Sometimes I had some red flags and annoyances with people. When I moved back here and was unable to find anything close by to continue participation in Siddha Yoga, Gurumayi had not been the leader for that long. I did witness some of the stuff around her and Nityananda. It bothered me, but soon after, I moved back here and was away from it. It's upsetting to read some of the things people are saying about Baba, because I didn't have any major problems and got a lot out of Siddha Yoga while he was alive. I have turned very skeptical about these types of organizations nowadays. I never had an opportunity to be part of the inner circle. I am a feminist so I would have left if I'd had proof he was sexually abusing women and young girls. I would not have stayed in denial about that kind of thing.
